Fashion News is an evolving subject – sometimes fascinating, sometimes exciting, sometimes silly and never boring.
Today I have assembled a few items to keep you up-to-date with the latest fashion words, fashion revival, fashion trivia and links to recent videos that I have uploaded to You Tube.
Relax and enjoy.
Fashion News – Handbag Cardigan
I have written about Sorbet clothes quite a while age. From an ad in a magazine, I decided to check them out again. That’s where I came across the ’handbag cardigan’ in their sale items. Hadn’t seen that term before. I like it. It describes a simple tie front cardigan made in lightweight material with elbow-length or three-quarter sleeves. Its beauty is that you can roll it up into a small ball and put it in your handbag for those times when the air-conditioning in a club or café catches you unaware or for aeroplane travelling.
Sorbet’s handbag cardigan comes in navy, black and white (normal price) and pink (on sale). Their website now is very basic – the descriptions tell you very little and often there is no back or side view of items. They also layer items and it is difficult to work out what you are buying.
For all that, I am going to use the term ‘handbag cardigan’ whenever I can. And make sure that my current light-weight wrap jacket goes into my handbag more often as an emergency item.
Fashion News – Clamdigger Pants
On the same website I also found ‘clamdigger pants’. You may know the term from your youth. Here’s the formal definition – Pedal pushers come no shorter than your knee; capris end mid-calf; clam diggers fall between the two lengths. Clam diggers can be loose or form fitting. These days all these terms are interchangeable.
The Black Pepper website has lots of clamdiggers. Theirs end at the middle of your knee. Sorbet’s styles are more fitted than the Black Pepper styles.
The one thing to remember with this style of pants is to have them end at the top of the curve of your calf rather than across the fattest part of your calf.
Fashion News – Pantone Colour of 2017
Pantone, the international Colour Institute, has named ‘Greenery’ as the 2017 Colour of the Year. Each year a colour is chosen to represent the current mood of the world.
In their summary, Greenery is one of nature’s neutral colours and represents the idea of ‘a new beginning’. They say it reminds people to ‘take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate’.
For most of us, the colour will have little impact on our lives.
It is an interesting bit of trivia.
