Style tips for tall women are reasonably easy to find. Translating them into something that suits you, your personality and your lifestyle may not be so easy.
Today I am reviewing an article on 15 Style Tips for Tall Women written by Ann Reinten, founder & CEO of PrêtÀStyler. I am an accredited Image Consultant with the parent company, Image innovators, and I get my products from them.
As part of my research to write this review of Ann’s Article ‘Statuesque Style: the art of dressing to impress when you’re tall’, I found different definitions of ‘tall’. Most start from 5’10” or 178 cm.
Ann writes that in her experience, the top concerns of tall women are: finding the right fit, length, looking pleasingly proportioned and strategies to look less tall.
Here is my take for stylish baby boomers on Ann’s 15 style tips for tall women. Plus I have added some Bonus Information.
Ann’s Tips that Work for All Women Regardless of Your Height and Size:
The three-quarter sleeve hack
To me this is not an exact measurement because you’ll find that if you play with turning up long sleeves to different arm lengths, you’ll soon find lengths that look good on you. The right sleeve lengths are the ones that make you feel great about yourself.
Know your measurements by heart
This is good for online shopping so that you have a good idea whether this item is worth purchasing because it fits you or can be easily adjusted. When shopping in person, you will probably find it easier to know where your best physical body length is for different types of clothing eg hip bone, mid-thigh, bottom of knee etc.
Cultivate a great relationship with a tailor
For all of us who aren’t a standard size this is essential.
Consider tailor made
This works when you really want to impress and feel great about yourself. Sometimes these clothes can be your ‘cloak of bravery’ when you need a self-confidence boost.
Ann’s Good Style Tips for Tall Women to Investigate
Look up, look down, look all around (on focal points)
Become a shape shifter (on interesting design shapes)
Belts, belts, belts
Show off your ankles with this short pant hack
Only you rock this footwear
Embrace large baubles and oversize bags
Ann’s Tips I’d Recommend You Be Wary Of:
Jump aboard the jumpsuit trend
Jumpsuits will stay for a while longer. If you like them, choose carefully to flatter your body shape and height.
Go wild with wide
This works for the tall and super slim. For the rest of us, going wide can make you look fatter in places you do not want to widen. The best tall girl fashions will skim your body or gently widen and balance your height.
Have fun with layering, colour, pattern and texture
Not all tall women have an extrovert personality or love dramatic patterns or colour combinations. Sometimes it’s good to step a little outside your comfort zone. For softer and quieter personalities, chose combinations that you will wear more than once.
Take a few hints from your celeb style sisters
Celebs live a different lifestyle from most of us. Your best style tips for tall women may come from stylish women you admire in your local area, meetup groups or even everyday style sisters on Pinterest or You Tube.

My Bonus Tip
I did a bit more research. Here are some sites to add to the above list to investigate –
Tall By Design is based in Auckland, NZ. Caters for women 178+ (ie 5’10”)
Long Tall Venus is based in Mansfield, Brisbane. No height guide given.
Shoe Garden is a based in Hawthorne, Brisbane. Caters for shoe sizes 10+.
Statuesque Girls is the website of Peter Sheppard. Caters for shoe sizes 40+.
On many sites, ‘Plus Size’ is a simple option. ‘Tall’ is not so easy to find. Taking Shape website which caters for size 12+ gives the model’s height for each design. As they are 175 cm and taller, these style will suit tall women. Birdsnest website also has ‘tall body outfits’ like this one on the right (no height parameter given).
PS: ‘Hack’ is a modern word for ‘Tip’. I prefer ‘tip’ as a word that we all understand.
Like all other articles, style tips for tall women are generic. If you really are interested in making the best of yourself, invest in ‘My Private Stylist’ as a starting point or enquire about an individualised consultation with me.
