This is a little book with ‘101 ways to live the fashionably luxe life for less’ was written in 2011 by Aussie, Kerrie Hess who is a leading fashion illustrator. It is her third book and one you can dip into randomly or read from front to back. Kerrie adds her own beautiful illustrations opposite every tip page. The drawing below is opposite tips 50 & 51. Scattered throughout the book are quotes from fashion industry identities.
The basis of her book is ‘that luxury is so much more about experiences than actual possessions’. Then Kerrie shows you where to buy luxury fashion items for less when overseas or online; the best beauty products; where to stay to experience ‘luxury for less’; and how to create luxury in your own home and wardrobe.
Here’s a Taste –
Tip 44 – the best ever beauty product (It’s not expensive)
Tip 55 – Did you know that Maybelline’s Great Lash Mascara is the No 1 selling mascara in the world with one sold every 1½ seconds
Tip 21 – where to shop for discounted luxury, in your PJs, at two great online stores
Tip 62 – ‘strappy shoe heaven’ in Hong Kong
Tip 52 – the best trick for choosing an LBD you’ll love to wear. Did you know the LBD was invented by Coco Chanel in 1926?
Tip 101 – the ultimate luxury. It does cost but not money.
What you get from this book is in the very last sentence – ‘Keep it simple, know the rules, and then break them with wild abandon.’
I enjoyed it and would recommend it to you. Find it online at Amazons or The Book Depository. If you live in Brisbane, you can borrow it from the BCC Library after I return my copy this Saturday.
